Prayer Requests

Swanson Scoop December, 2009

Dear Prayer Supporters,

We are so thankful to be able to serve as your representatives on the mission field in Mexico. God is good!

Ministry: In November we were happy to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Christ Lives Church in Colima. The church currently has 4 cell groups that meet in different homes during the week, and they meet together on Sundays in our house for a larger worship service. Several new people are attending the church.

One cell group of young adults meets around a table at night in a park. Several young men who work at the town newspaper office attend this group. They have made a commitment to follow Christ and are being discipled by Luis, one of the cell group leaders. Three of these young men were baptized in November. They are growing in their new faith and making right decisions to bring their lives in line with the new life to which they have been called.

Family: Deliegha is training the women of the church in different ministries to women and children. She also keeps very busy with homeschooling Charissa and Lois, and taking care of Titus.

Jeff is modeling servant-leadership in various church ministries and training the men to teach and preach. He reads to the kids as part of their schooling.

Charissa is in the middle of 6th grade homeschool and doing well. She enjoys drawing and reading. Lois is in second grade and loves to listen to stories. Titus is two and likes to play with his older sisters and to give hugs.

Praying: Please pray for the following requests:

1. Pray for a leadership team for the church to be developed. Pray that they learn to prepare Bible Studies, and that some of the men would prepare sermons. Currently 5 persons are leading home cell groups.

2. Pray that a each cell group would have a person trained to lead worship, and that a worship team be formed for Sunday service.

3. Pray that at least one new cell group would be formed in 2010.

4. Pray for our family to grow even closer and for the kids to develop more friendships with kids their own age. Pray for the Lord's blessing and protection.

Giving: During this time, we encourage giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering is the main support for over 5500 missionaries all over the world. You can give through your local Baptist church or online at: http://www.imbresources.org/index.cfm/fa/store.prod/ProdID/256.cfm

Thank you for praying for us and for the ministry in Colima.

May God grant you peace and joy. The Savior has come! (Luke 2:10-11)

Jeff, Deliegha, Charissa, Lois, Titus Swanson
